Today's excerpt is from the book's introduction. (I fudged and included three sentences, just this once.)
TEASER:
You know how when your jeans start getting tight, you tell yourself you had the dryer set too hot and they shrunk? Deep down you know you're gaining weight, but you just can't bring yourself to admit it.
That's how I was dealing with what was going on in the lives of me and my family.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away -- you don't want to ruin the book for others)
- Share the title and author too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers
- Leave a comment on MizB's Teaser Tuesday post (HERE) and include your link so everyone can find your post.
Lol!!! That is hysterical! I do that all the time! This sounds funny and charming, thank you for sharing! http://globugandhootie.blogspot.com/2013/04/teaser-tuesday-49-one-place-by-laurel.html?m=1
ReplyDeleteSometimes my clothes shrink while hanging in my closet too. I wonder how that happens?
DeleteOh, yes, I know that feeling well! I love a good memoir. I'm glad you're enjoying your book.
ReplyDeleteThis is a funny, warm-hearted memoir that anyone would enjoy. I've just barely started reading it and I'm hooked.
DeleteHey Sandy! So VERY glad you're enjoying my book! I struggled with the category because it's not exactly a memoir - although it is true! (or as I've told my friends, as true as I can remember...) It's really looking back at the lessons I learned - and promptly forgot! This time I wrote them down.
DeleteI'll be checking in throughout the day, so if any of you have questions, I'll answer them if I can!
Happy to be the Tuesday Teaser!
Marsha
Oh, I love the sound of this one! You had me a "Boomer lit," though. Thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteHi Laurel-Rain! Speaking of "Boomer lit" - if that had been a category I could have chosen, I definitely would have! My book is undoubtedly Boomer Lit!
DeleteCheers!
Marsha
I'm not much into memoirs, so don't know if I would like this. I'm glad you are enjoying it, though! My teaser: Aunt Dimity: Detective
ReplyDeleteI always like a good memoir! This one sounds interesting!
ReplyDeleteI like the structure of this book because it's told in a series of stories, rather than as one big saga.
DeleteHa! Isn't that the darn truth! LOL! Great Teaser! I haven't heard of this one before, but now I'm intrigued. Sounds like something I would say LOL Thanks for sharing and stopping by my TT!

Even though the title includes "baby boomer" in it, anyone can relate to Marsha's book. Her stories cross all age boundaries.
DeleteFabulous teaser. I love the cover and the title. Just the title makes me want to read it.
ReplyDeleteHere's my teaser: http://spicyromanceconnection.blogspot.com/2013/04/teaser-tuesdays-april-9th.html
Cheryl, thanks for the kind words about the cover and the title! It's great to know when something works! I actually was inspired to use "Mutinous Baby Boomer" in the title because my little girl photo looked so darn mutinous! And, yes, Sandy, you're right, I WAS a little rascal!
DeleteMarsha
That teaser rings highly familiar.
ReplyDeleteYeah. It's true for me too. Darn that hot dryer!
DeleteThere's quite a bit of truth in that teaser. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLol...I love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my TT
Great teaser -- interesting way of looking at what was going on with her family. Thanks for stopping by mine today, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of memoirs, but nice teaser! =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TT! Oh and keep an eye out on my blog for the review of The Testing.
This doesn't read like a typical memoir. It's more like a series of funny stories or anecdotes told by a friend.
DeleteNice teaser and very true. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteNot my usual read, but that's a great teaser! Sounds humorous but also a little sad. :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll check out some of the reviews - I don't think my readers have found it to be sad. Maybe a little poignant at times, like life! But, my take on the world is extremely upbeat! After all, my blog is called "Angels, Miracles & Dogs!"
DeleteCheers!
Marsha
Your choice of sentences had me laughing out loud. Sounds like a great read.
ReplyDeleteThanks Girl!Reporter! Laughing out loud is always good!
DeleteCheers!
Marsha

Works for me!
DeleteDefinitely can relate to that darn dryer shrinking things! However, today I am happy to report those jeans slid right on, woo hoo! Enjoy this fun read.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm happy to report that my jeans fit a WHOLE lot better than they did a few years ago! Woo Hoo is right! Thanks for stopping by on this fun Teaser Tuesday!
DeleteMarsha
From the Mutinous Boomer herself - me!
ReplyDeleteTo continue the Teaser Tuesday, here's how my first chapter begins...
"When I was five years old I got kicked out of kindergarten. No kidding. It's true."
Anybody else get kicked out of kindergarten out there?
Marsha
LOL. I had a hard time deciding which sentences to use for today's Teaser. There were so many great ones to choose from!
DeleteBy the way, I was always a good little girl and didn't get kicked out of kindergarten. Of course, eventually I learned that being good isn't always fun.
I loved this book! It was so well-written and the editing flawless, a joy to read. I look for stuff like that! Plus, there are some mind-boggling events that happened, which the author writes about. You will want to read it again and again. Wonderful book.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Lynn, and for retweeting my tweet about this post. I'm looking forward to reading more of Marsha's book this evening.
DeleteThank you so very much, Lynn! You are such an incredibly good reviewer that your words mean a great deal to me. What more can author ask for than for someone to want to read their book again?! That's just grand!
DeleteMarsha
Aren't all baby boomers just naturally mutinous?
ReplyDeleteAlice, my point EXACTLY! You got it!
DeleteMarsha
I so know the feeling!
ReplyDeletetrish - my teaser
