If you want to read a book that will keep you turning pages, wondering what will happen next with a story you won't soon forget, then you'll enjoy The Light Between Oceans.
Genre: Thriller / Historical
Length: 354 Pages
Amazon Link: The Light Between Oceans
Goodreads: Synopsis
Here's my two-sentence Teaser from 2% on my Kindle:
As he walked down the path, he heard the sweet notes of Isabel's voice as she sang, "Blow the wind southerly, southerly, southerly, blow the wind south o'er the bonnie blue sea." Though the music was tuneful, it failed to comfort him as he climbed the stairs of the light, fending off a strange uneasiness at the concession he had made.
Partial Synopsis from Goodreads:
After four harrowing years on the Western Front, Tom Sherbourne returns to Australia and takes a job as the lighthouse keeper on Janus Rock, nearly half a day’s journey from the coast. To this isolated island, where the supply boat comes once a season and shore leaves are granted every other year at best, Tom brings a young, bold, and loving wife, Isabel. Years later, after two miscarriages and one stillbirth, the grieving Isabel hears a baby’s cries on the wind. A boat has washed up onshore carrying a dead man and a living baby.

ReplyDeleteInteresting teaser. Thanks for stopping by my blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI just finished this one yesterday. I don't normally read much historical fiction, but the publisher had sent me an unsolicited copy.
ReplyDeleteI found that Parts 1 and 2 really dragged. I need something to be constantly happening or I'll get bored. Part 3 was much better. Can't say I loved the book, but I did cry at the end so I know that means that I connected with the characters and the story.
On my blog next week, I'll be featuring a dual review of The Light Between Oceans. Should be interesting.
I don't mind if a book moves slowly, so the pace didn't bother me. I'll be watching for your review.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
