Teaser:
"From curbside trashcans, she'd been able to scrounge a few shards of soap, which she kept in a plastic bag. Her most valued items were objects she couldn't wear to keep warm: a Bronze Star, Distinguished Service Medal, and a Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster. To some people these might seem like insignificant items of cloth and metal, but to her they were reminders of better times."

Synopsis from Goodreads:
Former Army Sergeant Sandi Charleston, diagnosed with PTSD and homeless, barely survives day to day. By a miracle of fate she meets Taz, a uniquely special collie, who helps turn her life around. Only through him does she find the courage to go head to head with her worst enemy-terrorist bent on mass destruction.
Bound by a special love to help and protect each other, side by side these two unlikely partners willingly march forward into battle. A fight to the death neither is sure can be won but fighting as one, they will try to.
Kidnapped and forced to reveal what she knows Sandi realizes there is only one individual who can save her from certain death. It’s not the government but her new best buddy.
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away -- you don't want to ruin the book for others)
- Share the title and author too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers.
Hi Sandy,
ReplyDeleteAlthough I love your teaser lines and this book certainly sounds like an emotional read, I am sorry, but it probably isn't one for me.
I hope that you enjoy it though and thanks for sharing your lines, it was interesting checking out the links.
Yvonne
We all have different likes and dislikes. This story has a positive message--the joys of having a dog in your life, and people helping people.
DeleteWow. This sounds like it'd be a sad and very emotional read. Interesting synopsis.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by
@ Livin' Life Through Books
Actually, it's not that sad. Good things happen to Sandi Charleston.
DeleteI agree seems to be a sad read. Appropriate for the day though. Thanks for sharing and stopping by Alli's World (mrscaptkirk51.blogspot.com).
ReplyDeleteI hadn't made the connection, but you're right -- it is an appropriate post. Thank you for leaving a comment.
DeleteSound sad! Here is my teaser for this week.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds sad, but it sounds as if things improve for her.
ReplyDeleteThey do, but there's some conflict first. It's a feel-good story.
DeleteInteresting teaser. It's rare to find books that focus on military veterans, lots of whom fall on hard times when they leave the service.
ReplyDeleteMy teaser is here if you'd like a look :)
You're right. There are so many veterans who need help after serving our country. This is the story of one woman who gets assistance and finds friendship (and a purpose) too.
DeleteThis sounds like an emotional read!
ReplyDeleteMy Tuesday Teaser =)
Sounds sad, don't think I'd make it through to the end of this one :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by My TT!
Happy Tuesday!
Sounds like an emotional read. I love dogs, but I found out from watching movies involving dogs that I can't handle the drama. I might die. x.x
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my blog earlier! ^_^
Interesting...
ReplyDeleteThe book may sound like a sad read but it's the story of determination and how one individual overcomes hardship.
ReplyDeleteAnd please remember we have soldiers who, for one unfortunate reason or another, are homeless.
Thanks for stopping by, Lindsay. I found the story to be thought-provoking but not sad.
DeleteSounds like an intense and emotional book, though for a very good cause. Thanks for visiting!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great read.

awe, the one with the Collie reminds me of my dog (she was a Sheltie, but looks similar) who passed away a few years ago, too young, :( but we do have a new sheltie puppy now, and her markings are similar to that pic, as its got some blue Merle in the face, ours does too, lol, so cool,. my daughter would love that book. Will tell her about it.
ReplyDeletelove the teasers
Tuesday Teaser and Intros
The collies are heroes in this book--and so intelligent! I'm sure your daughter would love it.
DeleteAwesome teaser. Looks very interesting, will have to check it out. =] Thanks for sharing and visiting My TT
ReplyDeleteMichael @ The Bookshelf Review
From the author-
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine picked the collie's coloration and the name of the collie.
A beautiful animal, and I love the name.
DeleteI sent my friend several different pictures showing the different colors and that was the winner hands down. As you noticed when you were reading the book I showed several different color patterns.
DeleteSounds like and mazing and touching read! Thanks for stopping by my TT!
ReplyDeleteThe ending was very emotional for me to write.
DeleteIt's a beautiful story.
DeleteNice teaser!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good book! But I am terrified of reading books with dogs in them, because if the dog dies I cry. And the dog ALWAYS dies!
ReplyDeleteFrom the author- Nicki not in this or any of the Emily Dahill Series books. Actually in this book the collie, Taz, helps save Sandi.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading this book now and although it tugs at the heartstrings, I'm sure it will end happily. I love the writing, too. Since I'm a dog lover as well as a love of a good story and good writing, I'm a sucker for Lindsay's books.
ReplyDeleteLindsay has not killed of any dogs in any of the books I've read. Can't imagine that happening.
No dogs were harmed in the writing of Lindsay's books! In fact, they're treated like members of the family, which is as it should be.
DeleteThanks Jean for the kind words.
ReplyDeleteThe collies are always the heroes in my books.
This book sounds great, one of those ones that could be made into a movie...
ReplyDeleteThanx for visiting my TT
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
That would be wonderful
ReplyDeleteI agree. Good characters, heroic dogs, a compelling plot -- good stuff!
DeleteOh that's very intriguing, the teaser is good. I'm very curious about this!

ReplyDeleteWait until you get to the end then you'll cry
DeleteOh wow. Reading the description of the book really makes this teaser powerful. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteIt's a powerful story with a great message
DeleteThose items are all really symbolic and important. The teaser itself is a little sad, but most things with dogs in it are heartwarming, so I'm sure its a good read.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog!
What happened to Sandi was sad but in the end everything works out.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds fantastic!!! I LOVE dogs and would love to help!! *goes buy the book*
ReplyDeleteI thank you and The Pet Fund thanks you

ReplyDeleteThis book as with all in the Emily Dahill Series are eBooks.
DeleteGreat teaser, this sounds like a book with a good message!
ReplyDeleteYes, that we owe our servicewomen and men
DeleteWhat a powerful teaser. I'm not sure I've come across a female vet w/PTSD before. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletePTSD is one of those illnesses doesn't care if you're male, female, young or old. It can effect anyone as I write about in my Christmas story last year, A Dog Gone Christmas.
DeleteSad teaser. Though, I'm glad to hear it's uplifting.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my teaser!
intense - sounds like a good story. :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds very moving. Here's Mine
ReplyDeleteInteresting, I'm going to look into this one further. It definitely caught my eye.
