Teaser Tuesday - Scarlet Nights

Scarlet Nights (Edilean, #3)
Where do you get your books? Some of mine come from big bookstores (usually Barnes and  Noble). Others I buy online, either as paperbacks or eBooks, and some I check out of the library or borrow from friends. But I also like to buy used books at Comstock's Bookshop in downtown Auburn, Washington. That's where I got Jude Deveraux's Scarlet Nights, written in 2010. Unfortunately, I just discovered that this is the third book in the nine-book Edilean series! Guess I'd better track down #1 and #2. In the meantime, here's today's Teaser Tuesday excerpt from Page 17 of my hardback edition of Scarlet Nights.

TEASER:
After days of heavy rain that nearly flooded the town, he'd discovered an old tunnel. It had been shored up with heavy timbers, and the floors had been laid with handmade brick--and it opened into the floor of Tess's apartment.

Author: Jude Deveraux
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Length: 376 Pages

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page

  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away -- you don't want to ruin the book for others)
  • Share the title and author too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers
  • Leave a comment on MizB's Teaser Tuesday post (HERE) and include your link so everyone can find your post.

  3. Great tease! I wonder why the tunnel leads to her apartment? I hate when I find out a book I have is not the first in a series. Hope you're able to track down the others:)

  4. Finding a book and discovering it's one from the middle of a series can be frustrating. Good luck with finding #1 and #2.

    2. What I mean is that this book stands alone, even though it's part of a series.

  14. Woah! Did not see that one coming at all!! Great teaser. I have had similar situations where I pick up a book, read it, and then find out it's the last in series...oops! Thank you for commenting!!

    1. The author did a good job of creating a plot that wasn't dependent on reading the prior books. I enjoyed this one.

  16. Hi Sandra,

I am notoriously bad at following a series of books in a logical order, but this is definitely a series which sounds as though it need to be read in strict sequence.

The teaser lines are most intriguing, although I am not too sure how I would react if a man just appeared in my bedroom through a hole in the floor!! Perhaps that accounts for the book's title!! If you check out Amazon.co.uk, there is a much more alluring cover image for this book and it fits the spirit of the synopsis exactly IMHO.

I buy most, if not all of my books from charity shops. The only time I will pay full price for a book, is if I am buying it for my father, when it would be one of the latest in a mystery/thriller series.

Enjoy the rest of your book, Yvonne

  17. i have enjoyed reading Jude Deveraux' books before.. so will check this out as well.. and I too do not like to find out midway that the book is part of a series (I recently read one and could not finish it since there was too much reference to past events from previous books and I had no idea what was going on!)
Mine is up on my blog and have a giveaway on as well:
