"Based on the life of Annette Bevels, Leaving Serenity takes the reader back to the quaint atmosphere of main street America in the 1960’s where everyone speaks the same language and success is measured by conformity. At sixteen, she falls in love with Jack Harris, a romantic hippie with an unsavory past. Leaving Serenity, Annette creates a new identity and becomes the master of her own destiny. Her journey to success is inspiring and empowering."
TEASER:
Changing my image gave my self-confidence a boost and elevated my career. No matter how many times they call me Annette, I've come too far to go back now. I am Nicky.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away -- you don't want to ruin the book for others)
- Share the title and author too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers.
- Sandy Nachlinger
I wonder why the name change? Was she running from something?
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering that too, but I'm not very far into the book. However, in the 1960s' days of "Flower Power," lots of people changed their names (or wanted to): Moonbeam, Daffodil, Swan, Lilac, Sparrow, etc.
DeleteGreat teaser.
ReplyDeleteHave to look at this one a little closer.
Here is my TT
Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment.
DeleteIntriguing teaser! I am sharing two teasers this week.
ReplyDeleteThis one has a theme that is familiar to us "former flower children." Amongst my various incarnations, as I call them, were some name changes, too. lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...and this one is going on my list.
Here's MY TUESDAY MEMES POST
I'm a little farther into the book now than when I posted today's Teaser, and I've found some flashbacks to the 1960s that you will enjoy.
DeleteGreat tease. I always wanted to change my name as a teen!
ReplyDeleteSometimes our names just don't fit! I've always been happy with mine, so I guess I'm just lucky.
DeleteThanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
That one sounds interesting. I wonder why she chose to reinvent herself. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteSo far, her childhood is pretty bleak. She's the least favorite of four children, and her mom berates her. I have a feeling things are going to get worse.
DeleteGreat teaser! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser. This sounds like a fun book. Thanks for stopping by my TT.
ReplyDeleteInteresting! Sometimes you just need to put on a new mask to try new things. Thanks for stopping by my teaser!
ReplyDeleteI think it's good to change your image up every now and then, but to completely change your name and everything goes a bit too far. Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteJuli @ Universe in Words
I agree, Juli. A different hairdo and new clothes is about as far as I'll go!
DeleteSounds really good. Thanks for stopping by.

Kinx's Book Nook
An image makeover can sometimes work wonders. Nice teaser today.
ReplyDeleteIntriguing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by, Deirdre.
DeleteOooo, wonder why she wanted to change in the first place... Great tease! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by The Coffee Pot!
I'm going to look into this one more. I've been looking for a good 60s period novel.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.
I can't pass up the opportunity to put in a plug for my own novel (co-written with Sandra Allen). It's I.O.U. SEX, and it includes some flashbacks to the 1960s. You'll find it here on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/I-O-U-Sex-ebook/dp/B004CFAPA4/
DeleteSounds different then most of the teasers. I like it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting.
Great teaser! Really intriguing. Hope being Nicky is a good change for her! Thanks for stopping by my TT. Happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteThis teaser is very intriguing... does it's job; makes a person want to read the book to see what she means! I like it a lot.
ReplyDeleteThx for visiting my teaser!
Nice tease! Thanks for visiting!!!
