Today's Teaser is from Page 3 of my trade paperback copy:
"But about a week after Elizabeth's funeral, when Abby and I were just starting to settle into a routine that would become our life, I think the concept that Mommy really and truly wasn't coming back became a tangible reality in my little girl's mind--more real, perhaps, than the lunch box I packed every night for day care, or the stuffed animals that lined the side of her bed against the wall. It happened after midnight."
Title: The Law of Similars
Author: Chris Bohjalian
Number of Pages: 336
Amazon Link: Here
Synopsis (from Goodreads):
From the number one bestselling author of Midwives comes this riveting medical thriller about a lawyer, a homeopath, and a tragic death. When one of homeopath Carissa Lake's patients falls into an allergy-induced coma, possibly due to her prescribed remedy, Leland Fowler's office starts investigating the case. But Leland is also one of Carissa's patients, and he is begining to realize that he has fallen in love with her. As love and legal obligations collide, Leland comes face-to-face with an ethical dilemma of enormous proportions. Graceful, intelligent, and suspenseful, The Law of Similars is a powerful examination of the links between hope and hubris, love and deception.

Hi Sandra,
ReplyDeleteSuch a sad and poignantly written teaser this week.
I can't believe I haven't come across this author before, but he is now most definitely on my radar now.
I checked out some of his many other books, on his website and they all seem to be penned with the same sensitivity in the storyline, making them some absolute 'Must Reads'
Thanks for sharing and introducing me to Chris's work.
Hope your week is going well so far,
Yvonne
MIDWIVES had some gritty parts, but the story is one I won't forget. Same thing goes for THE LAW OF SIMILARS. I hope you enjoy Bohjalian's books.

ReplyDeleteAwww, that's sad. Now I'm depressed, lol. Thanks for sharing this teaser and for checking mine out earlier.
ReplyDeleteEvery book he writes is so different!! It's hard to realize the same person wrote them all. :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree. He must do tons of research since he writes about such a wide range of topics -- and does it so well.
DeleteA very sad teaser at only page 3 :( thanks for stopping at my blog :)

Never heard of this author before. Thanks for visiting my TT... Actually the scene with the Brownie camera is set in 1938. And the other book where I recently came across the Brownie camera was written as early as in 1908!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea Brownies had been around that long! Thanks for letting me know.
DeleteOoh, I love thrillers. Sad teaser but I really like how the author writes. Thanks for the teaser and for dropping by my blog! Happy reading!
