A follow-up to my latest Teaser Tuesday post: Here's a guest post by author Sandra McLeod Humphrey with parental tips for combating bullying.

Sandra Humphrey Guest Post

Sandra says:
"... my book Hot Issues, Cool Choices: Facing Bullies, Peer Pressure, Popularity, and Put-Downs offers specific bullying scenarios which encourage readers to talk about the choices they would make in those situations."

This is important.

Teaser Tuesday - Hot Issues, Cool Choices

Award Winning Kids Book - Dare to Dream
In her book Hot Issues, Cool Choices, Sandra McLeod Humphrey tackles the issue of bullying. Here's the opening sentence from Chapter 1:

My name is Erica, and my life is like totally wrecked. Maybe Angelina didn't mean to wreck it, and then again maybe she did.

Teaser Tuesday - And the Whippoorwill Sang

My two sentences today are from And The Whippoorwill Sang, a true story of a family whose teenage daughter was killed by a drunk driver. The majority of the book is the family's history, beginning with the parents' marriage. Although this touching story is sobering and could have been depressing, instead the family's love shines through the pages.

When I reach the cubicle in the emergency room and pull back the gray curtain, I lose all remaining sense of reality. This cannot be the child who had run out my front door only an hour ago, too excited to give me a kiss goodbye, calling out, "Bye, Mom."

From author Micki Peluso's blog: I have recently released my first book, a memoir, about my daughter's death ... AND THE WHIPPOORWILL SANG. It's a funny, poignant celebration of her life more than a eulogy of her death.
